A Cape CRUSH

Sometimes you can't help it...
you just develop a crush and can't shake it.
It seems wherever I scroll this season the

Dressed Up...dressed down...over a coat...with boots...with jeans...
tossed and wrapped every which way way...
and adorned with every famous monogram...
THIS is a Great Cape-r!

I fell hard from the first images off the Burberry Prorsum runway...but it sold out the minute Olivia Palermo and SJP were spotted being Chic in the Street.  This is Equestrian Classic.  Inspired by traditional horse blankets, reversible versatile, spun from Scottish wool and cashmere, and woven with a new twist off the beloved Burberry Plaid-nothing not to love!

At $1350 plus $300 to monogram I think I need a PlanB!  Time to Run for the Needles!
I may not get full Burberry classic but I think one of these would get me started!

Now just add a cute monogram in the corner...a great pair of boots or a pair of precious Alexander McQueen embroidered flats

...oh, and that amazing Fendi bag!

"Chic is Where You Find It"-Coach Returns to the Cashin Classics

"A Good Thing is a Great Thing Forever...I Don't Like In and Out Things"  Bonnie Cashin

I own a lot of bags!  I mean a lot!  But if someone were to say "OK, one bag that's it"..it would have to be my Coach Duffle Bucket Bag--you can put a house full of furniture in it, and though many have told me it is bigger than I am-- I adore it! and have forever!  I love it so much I own it in three colors, my favorite is the red.

The bucket bag along with so many original profiles that were the foundation of the Coach image disappeared in recent years.  Coach got lost as far as I am concerned---a sea of Cs is not what the classic American brand was built on...it was built on handcrafted beautiful glove leather and it was built on the designs of one of my true fashion heroines Bonnie Cashin.  Bonnie Cashin set her own course in fashion design with a look that changed the way American women dressed.  In the early 1960's the men's leather accessory company Coach finally persuaded Bonnie Cashin to design a women's line and it is the Cashin Coach that defined the brand long before little Cs were seen all over their bags...distinctive hardware such as turn key toggle closures, buckles, grommets, zippers, dog leash clips...with strong but malleable beautiful leather in styles that will never ever be mistaken for anything but a Cashin Coach bag.

To celebrate 70 years of Coach the famous leather manufacturer has relaunched 5 of it s classic profiles in a limited edition collection- Coach Classics is available only at Coach.com and Net-a-Porter along with a handful of Coach boutiques. These styles remain as chic as they did 40 years ago--they aren't going anywhere and I for one applaud their return to the shelves,..not a C in site...Bonnie would approve!

Treat Me Like a Lady-The Bag Lady Reports...Spring Style

This week the temperature soared over 90 and suddenly it's summer...WAIT! What happened to Spring?? OK, today it is 47 and things are shaking back to normal, whatever that is...The weather, however, made me realize I am really behind in my Spring Prep and if I don't hurry it will be August!  The winter turtlenecks and woolies are still sitting on the shelves and the boots are still lined up in the mudroom...time to open the windows, plant the pansies and maybe do a little Spring Fling in the closet. In the process of tossing and sorting I came across some treasures-vintage bags that belonged to my Grandmother and that I simply adore. Classic frame bags with French purse closures, petite handles, silk and leather lined ...and they still hold her compacts.
Kate Spade
There is nothing like a new bag for Spring, but what has become of the graceful bag? I can rework my wardrobe for a new season but not without the addition of a new bag...or three.  The problem in recent seasons, even for this Bag Lady, has been that the bag world has gone klutzy. I am all for oversized mini-suitcases given what I toss into a bag, but what happened to a bag being a compliment to a look-so many bags shown at retail arrive 2 hours before the rest of you...and many are just plain ugly.  For Spring, I love a Classic Lady-Like look, crisp lines, delicate details, happy colors and oozing elegance.

I want a bag that is reminiscent of Nana's bags and my Mom's handbags that I grew up playing dress up with, bags that emulated the style of all of our fashion icons-Coco, Jackie, Audrey and Grace...
